Due to prodding by an author of www.werethereman.com, I am testing out Wordpress. I feel bad typing that name on my Blogger site, which I have grown fond of, regardless of the erratic posting.
Here's the new link:

Big Dreams
Most days I don't think about this blog too much.
Unless someone says something that I would have never heard if I hadn't moved here. I'll have to write a post on country grammar someday (and I'm not talking Nelly), but I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
But, then I read the Pioneer Woman, and I am inspired. She has turned her blog into a cookbook deal, a novel deal and now a TV cooking show deal. Here's the the power of positive thinking!
One day, I will be a successful entrepreneur.
I will be creative and fulfilled!
I will sell paintings and home decor crafts.
It will be fun!

Last Weekend
Since my last post:
I have helped Jake put a new window in the house.
Jake and I went to a wedding in Fayette, MO. We drove down with a friend of his. On the way, we stopped for lunch at Applebees where we all ordered salad (you know, to look good in our dress clothes). Jake and I had an Asian Chicken Salad. His friend had a steak and potato salad. Besides the apparently awful mustard dressing on the S&P salad, he was also disgusted with whatever weirdo kind of lettuce was on it.
"Why can't I have regular lettuce like you guys? What is this stuff?"
"It's spinach."
"It's weird!"
His friend also didn't have any dress clothes packed for the wedding, so we stopped in Chillicothe to pick up something.
He got an outfit at
Walmart.
I told him, "It looks like my school uniform. It's nice."
That was last weekend.
What will happen this weekend?

....
This is how it works. You're young until you're not. You love until you don't. You try until you can't. You laugh until you cry. You cry until you laugh. And everyone must breathe until their dying breath.

Flying Frogs
The picture window in the living room is 2 stories above the ground in the backyard outside.
They climb up here, I think, because this is where the good bugs are. One night, Jake noticed a faint flashing light on the window. It was a lightning bug!
Inside a frogs mouth!
The frog had gotten to the top of the window, found a lightning bug, ate his dinner, and we could still see the bug flashing in his mouth!
Easily Amused,
Liz
Tenacious frogs climb way up to the top.
This one was stuck on the window, but when I went to get a closer look, he jumped onto the Honeysuckle vine.
This one stayed on the window.

"What is the heck is that frog doing up here?"

A Hard Day...
Jake and I have had a cold, but I am doing my best to 'sweat it out' outside, which isn't hard when it's 90 degrees and full humidity. I managed to get some pole beans planted, and the corn is coming up as well as the winter squash and cucumbers. I've got more beans to plant, then I am done with planting seeds and I can focus on weeding. Yay.
Yesterday Jake and I went to the lake to cool off and then headed out to softball practice where I decided I will best help the team as a cheerleader.
When we got back home, however, we heard mention of a new grave....
There are 3 tom cats here on the farm who live their lives hunting mice, sleeping in a custom built kitty condo and eating kitty TV dinners (canned cat food heated up). They are Foxy - a little skiddish at first, but loves to rub against your leg, Forrest - a little more friendly and Freddie.
Freddie loved to be held. I would pick him up, hold him on his back and his whole body would go limp. He loved to see the world upside down. He loved to come in the house and cuddle on the couch. He loved to stay close to home, just in case one of us wandered outside and needed a little kitty love. About 2 weeks ago Freddie disappeared. We figured he got sick and went off to be by himself. But yesterday when Jake and I arrived home, we heard that his dad had found Freddie. He had been curled up in the shop. So they gave him a proper burial.
Jake's dad was out haying yesterday afternoon and also had a couple run-ins with wildlife. An unfortunate hen turkey and a unfortunate newborn doe were hidden in the tall grass....it was a hard day on the farm yesterday. But, life goes on, things happen, it's nature. We are moving on today.
